PolyPak seal is a precision molded multi-purpose seal that combines an o-ring type synthetic rubber o-spring with a traditional lip seal to produce a unique sealing device capable of sealing both vacuum, high and low pressure.

Traditional lip seals are prone to leakage at low pressure because the inherent lip load in basic seal design is small or non-existent. However, PolyPak is an extruded seal that provides high sealing performance under low pressure. As the system pressure increases, additional force is applied to the sealing interface of PolyPak. As the pressure continues to increase, lip loading is automatically increased to compensate for this higher pressure and thus maintain a positive, leak-free seal from hard vacuum to over 60,000 psi with proper design and auxiliary devices.

In addition to providing excellent sealing in vacuum, low-pressure, and high-pressure applications, PolyPak seals also have many obvious advantages over traditional symmetric or asymmetric U-cup seals, including:

• PolyPak’s o-shaped spring can stably seal under extreme pressure, preventing deformation of the sealing lip and rolling or twisting in the gland.

• In extreme cases of low or high temperature, the O-ring spring maintains the lip load on the inner and outer diameters of the sealing interface.

• PolyPak seal can be stretched or squeezed to accommodate oversize cylinder bores and undersize rods. As long as the sealing cross-section is correct in relative to the radial groove dimensions, PolyPak will compensate and maintain the appropriate lip load.

• The range of materials available to PolyPak seal users ensures an appropriate combination of wear resistance, extrusion resistance, temperature resistance, and fluid compatibility, resulting in high sealing performance and long service life.
