How does MEC seal work?
MEC seal is short for Metal End Cap Seal, and it is the seal bonded the metal end cups on elastomer, which can provide a high level of extrusion resistance and metal to metal sealing.
MEC seal is designed for EOG applications in harsh conditions, particularly for high pressures and high temperatures. Usually the elastomer can be HNBR, FKM, Aflas which depends on the application, and the material of end cap seal can be 20# steel, 925 alloy, 718 alloy, stainless steel etc. JST elastomer pass the RGD test and immersion test per NORSOK. We can provide customized MEC seal to satisfy different working condition.
After install the MEC seal in tube, the metal end cap plays a role in protecting the elastomer from high pressure extrusion and preventing contact with the fluid. On the other hand, the two sides of the metal contact the sealing surface under the pressure load of the elastomer and the sealing medium to form a metal-to-metal seal. The seal can withstand radial extrusion, and under the action of elastic force, the metal part can automatically repair surface defects and mechanical damage.
