What are hydraulic seals?
A hydraulic seal is a relatively soft, non-metallic ring, captured in a groove or fixed in a combination of rings, forming a seal assembly, to block or separate fluid in reciprocating motion applications. Hydraulic seals are vital in machinery. Their use is critical in providing a way for fluid power to be converted to linear motion. They are widely used.
Hydraulic seals material
Generally Hydraulic seals can be manufactured by variety of materials such as Rubber, Plastic (PTFE, UPE, PTFE filled Bronze etc), PU. It’s depends on operating conditions or fluid type, pressure, temperature etc.
Types of hydraulic seals
There are six general types of seal that may be found in a hydraulic cylinder. They are static or dynamic. Static seal is the sealing ring contact at the basic motionless seal high pressure is now used more o ring. The dynamic seal refers to the relative movement of the seal and the sealed body, and the movement is sliding and rotating.
They are:
1. Piston Seal
2. Rod Seal
3. Wipers
4. Wear Ring
5. Static Seals
6. Rotary Seals
