What is the difference between FFKM and FKM?
FKM – Fluoroelastomers
FKM is a fluorocarbon rubber, commonly referred to as fluorine rubber, VITON and FPM. They provide additional heat and chemical resistance.
FFKMs are perfluororelastomer compounds containing an even higher amount of fluorine than FKM fluoroelastomers. They have improved resistance to high temperatures and chemicals and even withstand environments where Oxygen-Plasma are present for many hours. They are commonly used to make O-rings and gaskets that are used in applications that involve contact with hydrocarbons or highly corrosive fluids, or when a wide range of temperatures is encountered.
What is the difference between FFKM and FKM?
FFKM has a greater degree of versatility than FKM. It has stronger chemical resistance and can withstand a larger operating temperature range, providing peak operating temperatures up to 330 ° C. If your application requires the highest level of performance, FFKM maybe the best choice for sealing materials.
If your requirements for chemical and temperature resistance are not so strict, then FKM can provide many of the same advantages as FFKM - also slightly lower in cost. Compared to most other elastomers, it still has higher chemical resistance, weather resistance, ozone resistance, gas resistance, and liquid resistance. Like FFKM, FKM is also suitable for explosive decompression, CIP, SIP, and FDA applications.
