RGD, ED Resistant, or AED (anti-explosive decompression) o-rings have been specifically formulated to resist this type of failure and withstand rapid gas decompression. The most commonly used material for RGD certified o-rings is Viton® or FKM. However, RGD o-rings can also be made from HNBR, AFLAS®, and FFKM materials.
