What is the material for Modified PTFE (TFM)
Modified PTFE or TFM, is a high-density copolymerized material. It has low gas permeation and reduces cold flow. Often used in the medical field as an artificial blood vessel graft and in other applications where biocompatibility is required. TFM is also FDA and USP class VI suitable.
TFM remains a largely unfamiliar material in the general PTFE machine parts and seal markets. At JST, we have pioneered the use of Dyneon TFM in both its virgin and compounded forms due to the exceptional physical properties it offers.
USP Class VI Test for plastic-Representative samples of Dyneon PTFE have been tested in accordance with the USP protocol for Class VI plastics at 70℃.The test article meets the requirements of USP 25, NF20, 2002, for USP Class VI plastics at 70℃.We expect articles made with Dyneon PTFE will meet the requirements of the USP protocol for Class VI plastics based on these results provided the finished articles are fabricated by good manufacturing practice and are generally suitable for the intended use.
JST has converted hundreds of traditional PTFE customers to a TFM-based solution offering huge performance improvements, service life and less downtime.
TFM Properties.
Modified PTFE offers many advantages over PTFE. Lower deformation under load, better fatigue performance, easier to weld, better transparency, higher elongation and higher dielectric strength. Modified PTFE, like PTFE, has excellent chemical resistance and a very low coefficient of friction.

As TFM Modified PTFE offers the same excellent chemical resistance and thermal stability as Standard PTFE, whilst delivering improved weldability, lower deformation under load and lower permeability, it is often used in sealing solutions.
We can design and manufacture your product, part or component in Modified PTFE (TFM). Whether developing a new part from scratch or innovating to provide a new solution for a failing component, our engineers can design and manufacture products in Modified PTFE (TFM) that will meet and exceed performance requirements.
